Alicia grew up in Camarillo and is thrilled to be a part of CAPE Charter School! At a young age, she helped her mom with reading groups and knew she wanted to be a teacher. Education had always been in the family as her mother, father and stepparents were teachers.
Alicia earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and Single Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, Chico as well as her Master's in Education from Chapman University. After college, she taught summer school at Camarillo High School and then moved to Upland to teach at Glendora High School for four years. Wanting to be closer to family, Alicia moved back to Ventura County and decided to stay home to raise her children. She found herself missing the classroom though, and jumped back in as a substitute teacher, long-term substitute and instructional assistant in grades K-8 at various schools in Oxnard, Camarillo, and Agoura. Alicia is excited to continue with our wonderful CAPE community, and is passionate about middle schoolers and Language Arts!
During her free time, Alicia loves to read, and visit friends, but her favorite thing is to be with her family and travel in their little RV camping and exploring new states and colorful sights. She met her husband, Jeremy, at Camarillo High School and has been married 21 years. Her son is in college and her daughter is in high school. Alicia is thankful for their support!
