Tina Hays taught first grade in a private school for several years before taking time off to start a family. She began working part-time for Pleasant Valley School District in 1994 as a substitute teacher and in the Resource Program for first- through fifth-grade students at Los Nogales and Los Senderos Open schools. For the past three years, she has given extra Language Arts support to students in grades four through six. She has served on various school and district committees through the years, as well as serving as site coordinator for STAR testing for the past nine years. She and her husband, Randy, have been married for 27 years and have a son, 23, and a daughter, 20.
