Alicia LaurentowskiAlicia grew up in Camarillo and is thrilled to be a part of CAPE Charter School! At a young age, she helped her mom with reading groups and knew she wanted to be a teacher. Education had always been in the family as her mother, father and stepparents were teachers.
Alicia earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and Single Subject Teaching Credential from California State University Chico, as well as her Master of Education from Chapman University. After college, she taught summer school at Camarillo High School and then moved to Upland to teach at Glendora High School for four years. Wanting to be closer to family, Alicia moved back to Ventura County and decided to stay home to raise her children. She found herself missing the classroom though, and jumped back in as a substitute teacher, long-term substitute and instructional assistant in grades K-8 at various schools in Oxnard, Camarillo, and Agoura. Alicia is excited to continue with our wonderful CAPE community and is passionate about middle schoolers and Language Arts! Recently, during the summer of 2017, Alicia attended the SCWriP Summer Institute at University of California, Santa Barbara and is a South Coast Writing Project Fellow. During her free time, Alicia loves to read, and visit friends, but her favorite thing is to travel with her family in their little RV camping and exploring new states. She met her husband, Jeremy, at Camarillo High School and has been married 25 years. Her son is currently attending Cal Poly Pomona and her daughter is a senior at Moorpark High School. Alicia is thankful for their support! Back to Faculty page... |
