Camille Despain

Camille Despain is intent on creating a classroom environment at CAPE that supports the constructive use of technology and motivates the inquisitive learner.

Ms. Despain received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alaska and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Azusa Pacific University.

A recipient of the Pacific Coast Teacher Innovation Network grant, Camille used the funds to create a collaborative school site program that focused on the use of iPads in the classroom. As a South Coast Writing Project fellow, Camille has also led a variety of collaborative professional development workshops for teachers, taught incoming educators at UCSB, and been a Young Writer’s Camp teacher.

Ms. Despain lives in Oxnard where she provides a base camp for her three adventurous children, all graduates of OUHSD schools.

"You learn to read so you can identify the reality in which you live, so that you can become a protagonist of history rather than a spectator."
- Father Fernando Cardenal
