Kimberly BrownMrs. Brown’s dream of teaching began with stuffed animals and a chalkboard in her backyard classroom. Her dream became reality in 1994 at a GATE magnet school in Santa Barbara and her passion for teaching (and LEARNING) has continued ever since.
After earning her bachelor’s degree in psychology at UCSB, Mrs. Brown continued her education there with a multiple subject teaching credential and master’s degree specializing in differentiation research. While at UCSB, she was a science lab teaching assistant, a science methods instructor for graduate students and a master teacher supervising credential candidates. Mrs. Brown is a senior fellow with the South Coast Science Project and a member of the California Association for the Gifted. She has evaluated curriculum and facilitated critical thinking with students and teachers throughout conferences in CA and CO. She truly believes education is a lifelong journey and not simply a destination. Her hope is to foster an engaging environment where everyone can experience the exhilaration of their own discoveries in math and science. She is honored to be part of our amazing CAPE community and continue this shared journey making discoveries with middle schoolers. Some of Mrs. Brown’s favorites include losing herself in a good book, experiencing new cultures through food and travel, but most of all, boating to the nearby Channel Islands with her husband and two children (who are also proud to call themselves CAPE Comets!)
